Wheel balancing
Wheel balancing that ends the shake at highway speed
If the steering wheel starts to buzz somewhere between 90 and 120 km/h, a wheel is almost certainly out of balance. We fix it on a computerised balancer in the van.

Wheel balancing
The short answer
Wheel balancing costs AED 25 per wheel with 800 Tyres, done at your location on a computerised balancer. It corrects uneven weight around the tyre and rim, which causes vibration through the steering wheel or seat at highway speeds. Balancing is included free whenever we fit new tyres.
What balancing actually corrects
No tyre and rim are perfectly even. The rubber is slightly thicker in one spot, the valve adds a few grams on one side, and the rim itself has small variations from casting. At 40 km/h you cannot feel any of it. At 110 km/h on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, a heavy spot of 20 to 30 grams turns into a rhythmic force hitting the suspension hundreds of times a minute. That is the shimmy you feel through the wheel or the seat.
Balancing measures where that heavy spot is and adds small counterweights on the opposite side of the rim until the wheel spins evenly. A modern balancer does this dynamically, measuring imbalance across both the inner and outer edges of the rim, so it corrects wobble as well as bounce.
Signs a wheel needs balancing
- Steering wheel vibration that appears at a certain speed, often 90 to 120 km/h, and fades above or below it. This usually points to a front wheel.
- Vibration through the seat or floor rather than the steering. Usually a rear wheel.
- Scalloped or cupped wear, a pattern of dips around the tread you can feel with your hand.
- A missing wheel weight, visible as a clean rectangle on the inside of the rim where a stick-on weight used to be.
- After a puncture repair or kerb strike, both of which can shift the balance.
Balancing is not alignment
The two get mixed up constantly, and many shops sell both when only one is needed. Balancing fixes vibration. Alignment fixes the angle the wheels point at, and its symptoms are different: the car pulls to one side, the steering wheel sits off-centre when you drive straight, or one edge of the tyre wears faster than the other.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shake at 100 km/h through the steering | Front wheel imbalance | Balancing | AED 25 per wheel |
| Shake through the seat | Rear wheel imbalance | Balancing | AED 25 per wheel |
| Car drifts left or right | Alignment or tyre pressure | Pressure check, then alignment | AED 99 sedan / 149 SUV |
| Inner edge of tyre worn bald | Toe or camber out | Alignment | AED 99 sedan / 149 SUV |
| Vibration under braking only | Warped brake discs | Brake service, not tyres | — |
If you are not sure which you need, describe the symptom on WhatsApp. More detail on angles and settings is on our wheel alignment service page.
How mobile balancing works
The technician lifts the car, removes each wheel and mounts it on the balancer inside the van. The machine spins the wheel, reads the imbalance, and shows exactly where to place the weights and how heavy they should be. On alloy wheels we use stick-on weights on the inside of the rim so nothing shows from the outside; on steel wheels, clip-on weights on the rim edge. The wheel is spun again to confirm it reads zero, then refitted and torqued to spec.
Four wheels take around 30 to 40 minutes. If the balancer shows a wheel that will not settle, the technician checks for a bent rim, a tyre that has slipped on the rim, or a lump in the tread from internal damage. Those need a different fix, and we will tell you rather than piling on weights.
When balancing is worth doing
- Every time a tyre is fitted or refitted. We include it with every new tyre at no extra cost.
- After a puncture repair that involved removing the tyre from the rim.
- When you rotate your tyres, if you already feel any vibration.
- Roughly every 10,000 km on cars that do a lot of highway driving between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
What it costs and what is included
Balancing is AED 25 per wheel, so a full set of four costs AED 100. The price includes removing and refitting the wheel, new weights, a check spin to confirm the result, and torquing the nuts back to spec. When we fit new tyres, balancing is part of the job at no extra charge.
Large SUV wheels on a Land Cruiser, Patrol or Range Rover are heavy enough that a small imbalance shows up clearly in the cabin. Our balancers handle rims up to SUV sizes, so these are done on site like any sedan.

What UAE drivers say
-
Khalid Al Mansoori MirdifFlat tyre on the Patrol at 11 pm outside the house. Technician was there in 35 minutes, had the right 20-inch tyre in the van and finished in half an hour. Price was exactly what they told me on WhatsApp.
-
Priya Raman JLTBooked a set of four Michelins for my CR-V. They fitted them in the basement of my building while I was on calls. Showed me the manufacture date on each tyre before fitting, which nobody has ever done for me.
-
Mark Dela Cruz Al Nahda, SharjahScrew in my tyre on a Friday morning. They plugged it in the car park, checked the other three and set the pressures. AED 80, done in 20 minutes.

Sarah Whitfield Arabian RanchesPaid with Tabby for new tyres on the Range Rover — split into four, no interest. The guy was careful with the wheels and left the driveway cleaner than he found it.
Common questions
Common questions
How much does wheel balancing cost in Dubai?
AED 25 per wheel, or free when we fit new tyres. The price is the same in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Can wheel balancing be done at home?
Yes. Each van carries a computerised wheel balancer, so we balance the wheels next to your car at home, at work or in a basement.
Why does my car only shake at around 100 km/h?
An unbalanced wheel creates a vibration that peaks at a particular speed, often between 90 and 120 km/h. Below or above that band it can seem to disappear.
Will balancing fix my car pulling to one side?
Usually not. Pulling is caused by alignment, uneven tyre pressure or a dragging brake. Balancing fixes vibration.
Do I need to balance all four wheels?
Only the ones that are out. If the shake is in the steering, the front pair is the usual culprit, but we often check all four in the same visit.
Flat tyre? A technician can be on the way in minutes.
Send your location and a photo of the tyre sidewall. We'll confirm the price and arrival time straight away — 24 hours a day.
